Acting Presidential

The Great Healer
“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” President Obama told Republicans leaders last week. That is a change. A President lowers himself and the office to go after a private citizen.

Also, this is just another occurrence in a developing pattern of The Cool One. He tends to publicly comment on small things in relationship to the size and power of the office. Not Presidential. Was this the change his voters wanted?

The Racial Healer

Rarely does a Presidential swearing-in ceremony give birth to a historic phrase. If there is delivered a quote for the history books, it has been positive and uplifting or a calling to the goodness of the American people.

Last November the majority of voters cast their ballot for change. The new administration wasted no time in providing change, blessing us with the first inauguration which disparaged the virtue, moral excellence, kindness, and generosity of the majority of Americans and their ancestors.

President-elect Barack Obama choose Reverend Joseph E. Lowery to give the benediction at the end of his Presidential swearing-in ceremony. The Reverend ended his blessing with:

“Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around … when yellow will be mellow … when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen.”

Let the healing begin!

Dropped the Ball

Aircraft

During the news cycle on Thursday, CNN dropped the ball when reporting on the pilot of US Airways Flight 1549. Captain Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger III superbly executed an emergency landing in the Hudson River on Thursday saving 155 lives.

Captain Sullenberger is a white male. If that is not bad enough, he is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and flew military fighter jets in defense of the his country, the United States. These are bad things in the eyes of CNN. Heads will roll.

Mac’s Notebook - Entry 20

After I graduated from Basic Obedience my human pack leaders (HPLs) began taking me to two local bark parks. (Ed. Note: Officially known as dog parks.) Many bark parks have play sets. (Ed. Note: Officially known as dog agility equipment.) Many HPLs try to get their dogs to use these contraptions, usually to no avail. Us dogs never use on these objects on our own. We are there for more serious socialization, greeting and sniffing each other and/or sniffing the prior comings and goings of other dogs.

We think it is hilarious for our HPLs to try and catch us when they want to leave the bark park. If only they knew how we help each other avoid capture by running interference and communicating the whereabouts of those trying to sneak up on us. (Ed. Note: Not funny.)

One final observation about bark parks, especially concerning us smaller dogs. We don’t really care to have the little people (Ed. Note: He means small children.) running around or running directly at us. We have nothing against little people, as we a little ourselves. Unfortunately, their erratic movements scare us. And that makes us bark to warn them away.

Thanks for your time, but now I have to catch some rays.
