To Be Fair

Search the web for “pay their fair share” and the hits are overwhelmingly about how the rich do not. Some people believe rich folks should pay more in taxes to live and work and die in the United States. What is fair about that? Do rich folks use more government resources? National defense, the same for everybody; man, woman, child. Central bank, same thing. State Department, seems about an equal portion for each of us.

There may be some exceptions. For those taking a lot of meds, they are getting a bigger slice of the Food and Drug Administration. Those in public housing get more of HUD. Food stamps, not an equal distribution. Public transportation, many of the rich have never ridden on it. Is there a pattern here?

If we as a nation really want fairness, then each person should pay the same in taxes. Not the same rate. The same amount. Dollar amount. For example, $1,000 per year.

Those that can not afford it, get the honor of working it off. If a citizen or resident can not work and can not afford the tax, then charity comes to the rescue.

The Presidential Campaign of Barack Obama. Saga Number 1.

Barack Obama rejected John McCain’s offer of ten town hall discussions. Instead, Senator Obama countered with a single town hall appearance with Senator McCain.

On July 4th.

Is it Senator Obama’s schedule for July 4th is open because he will not be celebrating Independence Day? Or is it Senator Obama does not trust himself to be observed by vast numbers of fellow citizens without his teleprompter?

Chevy is not Lexus . . . Publix/Kroger/Safeway is not Whole Foods Market.
