The White House did the country proud these last few weeks. It elevated its stature from that of the tacky and juvenile deportment of the Bush White House. The new administration leveraged the moral authority of the American Presidency into a highly visible media campaign to destroy a lowly radio personality named Rush Limbaugh.
By using the power of the Presidency for such an important issue, the White House has demonstrated three of its guiding principles to the world.
First, it will not pick on somebody its own size.
Second, its willingness to unify the country by reaching across the ideological aisle to the kook-fringe politics of conservatism, which is shared by the center-right majority of Americans.
Third, it will not spend valuable time and resources foolishly dealing with unimportant concerns such as the catastrophic unemployment rate, the dysfunctional economy, and rogue nuclear states.
Isn’t it nice having adults back in charge?

The Detroit auto company CEO’s utilized their corporate jets to meet with congress. Tisk tisk. The big bank CEO’s meet with congress and are made to confess to the high crime of corporate jetting. Tisk tisk.
Nancy Pelosi has a corporate jet, the C-20A/B, a military versions of the Gulfstream III. It is part of the 89th Airlift Wing based at Andrews Air Force Base.
Do as I say, not as I do.

During the news cycle on Thursday, CNN dropped the ball when reporting on the pilot of US Airways Flight 1549. Captain Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger III superbly executed an emergency landing in the Hudson River on Thursday saving 155 lives.
Captain Sullenberger is a white male. If that is not bad enough, he is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and flew military fighter jets in defense of the his country, the United States. These are bad things in the eyes of CNN. Heads will roll.

Many are bashing the American automobile industry. Some are calling for the Big Three to throw in the towel and declare bankruptcy. Some are calling for a change in management since they must not know what they are doing.
The financial results for the Ford Motor Company operations outside North America from 2006 through the 3rd quarter of 2008 include: South America with a net profit of $2.848 billion, Europe with a net profit of $2.842 billion, and Asia Pacific and Africa with a net loss of $90 million.
The bottom line for the incompetent Ford management for their operations outside North America since 2006 is a net profit of $5,600,000,000. Yeah, throw the bums out!

Being the anti-American liberals (oops, progressives) they are, the antique media has been having a field day bashing Detroit’s Big Three lately. Bashing American institutions is what they do best, so it figures they would go after Big Auto. American Big Auto, that is. They don’t bash the Japanese or the German auto makers. That fits with their play book.
There is a little problem with their knocking Detroit. It shows a lack of understanding economics and the auto market.
First, Detroit designs and builds the vehicles the market demands. By 2005 nearly one-half of Americans wanted SUVs, trucks, and minivans. 49.7 percent to be exact. So our friends in the antique media expected Detroit to not offer these vehicles. Fine. So instead, Detroit could have competed with the Japanese and Germans selling only cars.
Second, the Japanese and Germans followed Detroit into the SUV, truck, and minivan markets. Toyota has SUVs, trucks, and a minivan. Nissan has SUVs, trucks, and a minivan. Honda has SUVs, a truck, and a minivan. Porsche has an SUV. BMW has SUVs. Mercedes-Benz has SUVs. VW has an SUV and a minivan. Since these are not evil American companies, they are not fodder for bashing.
Oops, almost forgot. Some of our American taxpayer funded politicians in Washington have also bashed Detroit. One is running for president.
